It is not too much to say that most of interior accecories in Japan are imported from overseas, and subsequently Japanese traditional crafts are falling behind in the shadows. On the other hand, traditional Japanese craft works attract people from outside of Japan and are brought overseas. In the end, they are changed in shape and dimension and are brought back to Japan. With the question "Why not noticing the Japanese qualities even though they are so close?" and with my hope "more people know about Japanese traditional craft works through my works", my concepts appears through my lighting designs. Staying in Akita prefecture in Japan, I learned and acquired the skills of the Japanese traditional craft work , "Mage Wappa".
